About She’s Got Issues
Comics make me happy.
They probably make you happy, too.
So let’s be happy together.
There are lots of comics blogs/newsletters/podcasts you can—and should—read. What makes She’s Got Issues different is that I’m relentlessly positive, focusing only on the stuff I love and why I love it. Because there’s so much good stuff on the shelves!
You won’t find much negativity here. I don’t like hate-reading stuff, nor do I like writing negative reviews. While I don’t shy from identifying what I don’t like, I don’t linger on it. (Also, it doesn’t mean you can’t like it, or that your tastes are bad, or any of that. Only that it just isn’t for me.)
What You’ll Find Here
You can expect 2-3 posts a week from me, which include:
This Week’s Haul: Short Wednesday post, showing what I got from my local shop
The Best Thing I Read This Week: A medium-length post about my favorite new (or new-to-me) issue I read and why I liked it so much
Occasional longer-form essays on characters, books, plot-lines, trends, themes, and whatever strikes my fancy. (I’m aiming for 1-2 per month).
Maybe one day I might expand into more writing, featuring interviews, podcasts, that sort of thing. (I’d love to, in fact!) But for now, I want to take it slow and let She’s Got Issues develop organically.
Why She’s Got Issues
I want to amplify the great work being published right now, while also encouraging more people like me to explore and enjoy more comics.
I’m not an expert, however. There’s so much about the space I don’t know… But I want to. So as someone who has always learned best by writing, I’m hoping to also use this Substack as a way to deepen my knowledge and love of comics, engage with other fans, and find my place in the big, broad tent of comics fandom.
So if you’ve made it this far—please reach out! I’d love to connect. Comment, share, subscribe, and email me any time at shesgotissuessubstack@gmail.com.
